Shahrukh Khan co-owned KidZania to launch in India in April 2013
India will soon have a place of edutainment where children between the age of 4 to 14 will be taught by the real life experiences. King Khan aka Shahrukh Khan has a share of 24% in the venture whereas the remaining 74% is owned by Singapore based KidZ Inc., owned by Comcraft Group, Xander Group andMaxfield Management Ltd.
KidZania’s director in India Sanjeev Kumar said, “We invest close to $15-25 million on each park. The Mumbai one the investment is around $20 million (Rs 100 crore). We are hoping to breakeven in the first year itself.”
For now Kidzania will open in the R City Mall in Mumbai and later two more ventures will be opened in Delhi NCR and Bangalore.
Shahrukh Khan said, “I am a believer in business where we can create a product to touch the hearts of end-consumers. Here in KidZania, there is a product which is close to my heart, it is for kids and it is entertaining. All that I want to do.”
The concept of KidZania is to teach the children from the real life incidents of people and the means of income for KidZania is going to be from the tickets which cost Rs. 700 for five hours. Kumar further said, “We will also have subsidized rates for kids who cannot afford the tickets as a part of CSR partnerships and we also run mobile vans in cities where we will reach out to more people without audio visuals.”
The venture is soon going to gain acquaintance with people of the country and being a Shahrukh Khan venture it surely has a bright future for itself and for the kids.
